WHAT TO DO NEXT:
Leave your second-skin bandage on for 5-7 days.
You may notice blood/ink/fluids pooling up under the bandage. This is normal. If the fluids seem excessive and are beginning to leak from the bandage, drain it gently in the shower to avoid staining clothing. Otherwise, leave the fluids and your body will re-absorb the majority to assist in the healing of your tattoo.
Avoid direct sunlight, swimming, and excess contact with the tattoo for 2-3 weeks.
After 5 days, slowly peel off the bandage under warm running water. Gently wash your tattoo with unscented soap and let air-dry. For the next week or so your tattoo will be slightly dry and flaky. Apply small amounts of unscented hand lotion once or twice daily and do not scratch or pick at your tattoo.
If the bandage comes off early:
Do not remove your bandage before 5 days but if it happens to come off early you may do one of the following:
⦁ Return to the shop and request a new bandage
⦁ Take extra care for the next couple of weeks to keep your tattoo very clean. Do NOT pick at or scratch your tattoo. Keep tight clothing off of your tattoo until it is healed. Do not soak the tattoo under water for long periods of time. Quick showers and cleaning is fine but nothing more. Do not use an alternative bandage.
If your tattoo scabs, DO NOT PICK! You will lose your color and may scar. Itching can be slapped or patted.
For the future
Keep healing tattoos out of the sun. After it has healed and your tattoo is exposed to the sun, we recommend using at least an SPF 30 sun block.
Some tattoos require touch ups. You must wait at least a month before we can do any kind of work over a new tattoo. Please speak with the artist who did your tattoo about an appointment.
